What Happened
Covering 920 square miles and handling over 1 million waste collections each month, East Riding of Yorkshire Council relies on Dennis Eagle's refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) to maintain services across a rural area. The RCVs feature onboard weighing, soft pack options, and durable Hardox hopper floors, along with bespoke additions like defibrillators. The fleet also supports food waste collections to comply with Simpler Recycling legislation.
“The greatest benefit of working with Dennis Eagle is that they’re truly a one-stop shop for everything RCV. Previously we’ve had to work with multiple suppliers for different components, which made communication and aftersales support particularly difficult. Now we have a single point of contact.”
East Riding prioritizes safety, equipping its fleet with the latest safety features. Dennis Eagle provides technician training, including Level 2 Train a Trainer for supervisors, and its Leeds Service Centre offers additional support to bridge skills gaps. With five depots and a sixth planned in Beverley, the council uses two dedicated service trucks to meet rural needs.
The council is also raising awareness about responsible battery disposal after several RCV fires caused by batteries. Eye-catching vehicle graphics promote this message. The 38 new trucks will be delivered over the next four years, with many already in service.
“As a business, we do everything we can to ensure their individual needs are met and their expectations surpassed. I’m excited to see what the future holds for them and their fleet over the next few years.”
