What Happened
The eighth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship took place this weekend in Kegums, Latvia. Calvin Vlaanderen finished tenth in the first MXGP race but crashed at the start of the second, damaging his Desmo450 MX irreparably. Andrea Bonacorsi, who underwent successful surgery after a qualifying crash, is expected to be discharged soon.
In MX2, Ferruccio Zanchi finished eighth in the second moto, his best heat result of the season. Despite a crash in the first moto that damaged his bike, he posted excellent lap times and ended 12th overall, just two points from the top 10.
“These have been three really challenging GPs in a row, and we've all had to make a huge effort to get this far. In the second race, I got off to a good start, had a good pace, and even though we're still getting used to this intensity, I'm satisfied with the result. This is a good starting point for Montevarchi.”
