What Happened
The newly formed 'Initiative Grüner Brenner' brings together MAN Truck & Bus, Dettendorfer Energy GmbH, and other partners to accelerate the use of battery-electric trucks (eTrucks) on the Brenner route. The goal is to develop the Brenner corridor as a model region for emission-free logistics, complementing rail transport until the Brenner Base Tunnel is finished.

Based on 110,000 km annual mileage; 300 trucks daily could save up to 28,000 tonnes annually.
“The Brenner is a stress test for European freight transport – and at the same time concrete evidence that electromobility in heavy-duty transport can already make a significant contribution to reducing the traffic problem. Until the Brenner Base Tunnel is completed, eTrucks can provide an important relief contribution.”
