What Happened
The SEAT & CUPRA battery system assembly plant, also known as Workshop 20, opened last December on the Martorell premises. Spanning 64,000 square meters, it employs 500 people and 206 machines to assemble batteries for the CUPRA Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo. The plant produces one battery every 45 seconds, totaling 1,200 per day.
- Cells are assembled directly into stacks, eliminating intermediate modules, improving energy density and reducing weight
- Aluminum case is cast in one piece, removing need for welding and speeding up production.
