What Happened
FAW-Volkswagen's Jetta brand says its first all-electric car, the Jetta M6 sedan, drew more than 10,000 locked orders in the 19 hours after it went on sale on October 22, 2026. Those tallies reflect binding customer deposits placed across dealerships and internet storefronts nationwide. The brand announced the tally on October 24, 2026, in Changchun.
The Jetta M6 goes on sale in China as the brand's first battery-electric model.
From Changchun, Jetta announces that locked orders passed 10,000 within 19 hours of launch.

The M6 is a mid-size sedan developed around Jetta's proprietary Jiesi EV architecture. Its body is 4,806 mm long, 1,868 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall, on a 2,820 mm wheelbase, with a drag coefficient of 0.208. Cabin hardware includes Yuexing Smart Cockpit 2.0, an 8.88-inch instrument display and a 15.6-inch central screen, while the front seats fold flat to form a double bed. The range-topping 555 Ultra adds Horizon Robotics' Journey 6M processor, which brings Navigation on Autopilot to city streets and highways.
Jetta attached a promise aimed at buyers unsure about driver assistance. If those systems cause a crash during the owner's first year, the manufacturer covers the cost in full, according to the brand. The offer is part of the launch package for a line-up whose flagship carries the urban and highway NOA function.
Why this matters
The M6 is Jetta's first battery-electric model and it competes in China's highly contested entry-level EV segment, so the early order burst is an early read on whether a value-focused nameplate can win electric buyers. It also sets a benchmark for rivals selling small EVs in the same price band, and it pairs the launch with an unusually broad assisted-driving compensation promise.
