Kia extends Carens Clavis EV battery protection beyond the usual ownership cycle
New private buyers of the Carens Clavis EV will receive a 15-year battery plan with no distance limit, while earlier owners can pay to upgrade.

What Happened
Kia has changed the battery cover attached to privately purchased Carens Clavis EVs sold from August 1. The high-voltage pack is now protected for 15 years without a mileage ceiling for the first private owner.
Fleet users, commercial operators and later owners remain on the regular eight-year or 160,000km policy. Earlier private buyers can request the extended cover for a one-time Rs 3,400 fee, subject to an inspection and Kia’s conditions.
Why this matters
A long battery guarantee can make the durability and resale value of an EV easier for buyers to assess over a much longer ownership horizon.
