What Happened
Assembled domestically in Andhra Pradesh, the updated fourth-generation vehicle arrives in six distinct variants spanning entry HTE specifications up to flagship HTX grades. Seating configurations span six-passenger layouts with second-row captain armchairs alongside seven-seat bench arrangements.

Mechanical choices center on a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol strong-hybrid system linking an internal combustion unit rated at 180 horsepower and 265 Newton-meters with an electric propulsion motor producing 65 horsepower and 264 Newton-meters. The setup operates through a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission driving the front axle or an available all-wheel-drive system on upper grades.
A traditional 2.2-litre compression-ignition diesel engine remains available, generating 193 horsepower and 442 Newton-meters channeled through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. All-wheel-drive editions incorporate specialized terrain calibration modes covering mud, snow, and sand conditions.
Interior appointments include twin 12.3-inch curved screens serving digital instruments and media navigation, Level 2 automated driving assistance hardware on designated grades, and 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels filling the wheel arches.
Why this matters
The Sorento becomes Kia's flagship internal-combustion offering in the Indian market, introducing the country's first turbocharged petrol strong-hybrid powertrain alongside conventional diesel configurations to compete against full-size rivals like the Toyota Fortuner.
