What Happened
MAHLE unveiled the new generation of its ArcticPRO A/C service units at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026. The family comprises four models — Tech, Advanced, Expert, and Ultimate — sized for different workshop needs. A modern design with larger touchscreens and an optimized user interface, plus a high level of automation, makes servicing easier. Wi-Fi connectivity and digital features keep the units' systems and vehicle databases current. The MAHLE Connect App, with an AI assistant, supports technicians.
“Thermal management is one of MAHLE’s core technology fields. With the new ArcticPRO® generation, we are making this expertise directly accessible to workshops performing A/C service. Our goal is to help workshops successfully navigate the technological transformation of the vehicle parc while unlocking new growth opportunities in the service business.”
All ArcticPRO units are built on a completely redesigned, fully automatic platform that supports the refrigerants R134a, R1234yf and the new blends R444A and R456A. Their modular construction lets workshops convert a unit from R134a to R1234yf and back, increasing flexibility and long-term investment security as vehicle types and refrigerants proliferate. A newly developed user interface includes graphical process guidance, status displays and integrated help functions, while different touchscreen sizes and audio/video support reduce training requirements and user errors.
The digital side includes Wi-Fi connectivity, automatic software updates and integration with the MAHLE Connect App, keeping vehicle databases continuously up to date and letting workshops monitor unit status, service data and operational metrics at all times. Thanks to cloud connectivity, unit data, documentation and service information are always available. All models use a new 24-volt architecture that improves energy efficiency and extends the service life of key components. The ArcticPRO family can also service the air conditioning systems of hybrid and electric vehicles and includes an integrated flushing function that simplifies maintenance.
- ArcticPRO Tech: entry-level, 4.3-inch touchscreen, patented E³-FILL technology for precise refrigerant charging.
- ArcticPRO Advanced: 7-inch touchscreen with video support and integrated weighing systems for highly accurate dosing of operating fluids.
- ArcticPRO Expert: for high service volumes, 20-liter refrigerant tank (instead of 12 liters), four oil/UV dye containers, and OneTouch function for quick access to internal components.
- ArcticPRO Ultimate: flagship, 10-inch touchscreen with audio/video support, integrated thermal printer, advanced consumable monitoring, five oil/UV dye containers, for largely uninterrupted operation.
With the MAHLE Connect App, ArcticPRO stations gain a digital AI-powered assistant that guides technicians through the entire service process, reducing manual tasks and accelerating workflows. Users can monitor and control service procedures from a smartphone, retrieve vehicle-specific information, and automatically generate service documentation. The MAHLE Intelligent Assistant (MIA) uses MAHLE’s OE and service expertise to answer technical questions and help with fault diagnosis. Automatic vehicle identification recognizes a vehicle from a photo of its license plate or VIN and transfers the data directly to the station, letting technicians follow progress in real time and control selected functions remotely. Secure app-station pairing is done in seconds via QR code, and the app also provides direct access to the technical hotline.
Previously from MAHLE GmbH
Ahead of Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, MAHLE had announced it would present five world premieres at the show, including new A/C service units, an AI assistant, a digital workshop portal, mobile service, and a sheep's wool cabin air filter. Today's ArcticPRO launch is one of those premieres.

Why this matters
This matters because repair shops must handle a growing variety of vehicle air conditioning systems and refrigerants, including in hybrids and electrics. MAHLE says the new units, in entry-level to flagship versions, automate servicing, keep databases current via Wi-Fi, and add an AI assistant to cut manual work and help with diagnostics. The company positions the launch as a way for workshops to cope with the technological shift in vehicles and grow their service business.
