What Happened
Mercedes-Benz is showcasing two G-Class variants for rescue and special operations, as well as van solutions based on the Sprinter and Vito, at Eurosatory 2026. The company also presents a new vehicle combination with Tytan Technologies for counter-drone defense, and intelligent mobile energy storage systems from Mercedes-Benz Energy.
The G-Class variants include the Station Wagon with increased gross vehicle weight of 4.5 tonnes and the Wolf 2, a digital radio and command vehicle for the German Armed Forces. Both offer payloads over one tonne, extreme off-road capability, and optional equipment like run-flat inserts and infrared lighting. The G-Class has a proven track record with over 74,000 units in service worldwide, some with a service life exceeding 30 years.
Mercedes-Benz Vans presents the Sprinter 4x4 and a specially equipped Vito as military police vehicle. For the first time, a combined system of Sprinter and G-Class developed with Tytan Technologies offers counter-drone capabilities, including drone launch modules and radar. The partners signed an MoU on June 10 at ILA 2026 to further develop these systems.
“Peace, security and freedom are the foundations of our society. For decades, Mercedes‑Benz has supported security and defence operations with adaptable vehicles and a high level of technological expertise – particularly on the basis of the G‑Class and the Sprinter.”
