What Happened
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority exercised options from New Flyer's backlog for 75 Xcelsior hybrid-electric and 25 Xcelsior CHARGE NG battery-electric buses. The purchase is supported by federal, state, and local funding, including the FTA Low or No Emission grant program. The new buses will replace end-of-life vehicles and support Metro's five-year Strategic Transformation Plan.
