Opel opens order books for all-electric Corsa GSE hot hatch with 281 hp and 5.5-second sprint

Opel has opened orders for the all-electric Corsa GSE, a 281 hp revival of its sporty hot-hatch line that hits 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.

Power
207 kW (281 hp)
Torque
345 Nm
0-100 km/h
5.5 seconds
Battery capacity
54 kWh (51 kWh usable)

What Happened

Opel has opened order books for the new Corsa GSE, an all-electric high-performance version of Germany's best-selling small car and the most powerful production Corsa to date. It will celebrate its exhibition premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October. With the GSE badge standing for Grand Sport Electric, the Corsa GSE revives the GSi genes of the original Corsa generation. Opel notes that the performance figures are provisional and that the vehicle is not yet homologated and not yet available.

The electric motor produces 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Nm of torque, giving a 0-100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. Opel says no other production Opel accelerates faster. That output matches the Mokka GSE, which the release says holds the 'Golden Steering Wheel' title in the Small Cars category from AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG (both issue 47/2025). Energy comes from a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery with 51 kWh usable capacity and temperature management adapted to high-performance demands. The release also lists WLTP combined figures of 18.5 kWh/100 km and 0 g/km CO2, with CO2 label A, for the Mokka GSE.

Corsa GSE driving modes
Sport
Full power (207 kW / 281 hp), racetrack-optimised calibration, top speed 180 km/h
Normal
170 kW (231 hp), sporty set-up, top speed up to 180 km/h
Eco
Settings trimmed for maximum efficiency, top speed 150 km/h

To handle the performance, the Corsa GSE combines front-wheel drive with a Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential and a lowered sports chassis with specially designed axles, anti-roll bars and hydraulic bump stops. GSE-optimised steering and pedal tuning sharpen the response, and four-piston performance brakes provide stopping power. An active sport sound developed exclusively in Rüsselsheim adapts to acceleration and speed, contributing to the dynamic experience.

Why this matters

The Corsa GSE brings high-performance driving to Opel's small-car line in fully electric form, reviving the GSi spirit of the original Corsa. Opel says it is the most powerful production Corsa ever and its fastest-accelerating production model, demonstrating that battery-electric performance is not just for luxury customers. It keeps everyday practicality with comfort features and a bidirectional charger that can power external gear from e-bikes to electric grills.
