Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car brand, has launched the Polestar 4 SUV, a compact executive SUV variant that combines the updated Polestar 4 coupé's design and refined performance with more cargo capacity, utility and everyday usability. Positioned to bring Polestar's performance DNA to a new customer base, the SUV shares the coupé's SEA architecture and is available with a 100 kWh battery supporting DC charging up to 200 kW and AC charging up to 22 kW (11 kW in UK, Ireland, Korea and Canada). It is manufactured in Busan, South Korea, where production started in the second quarter of 2026; the first shipment is already on its way to customers.

Polestar 4 SUV retains the coupé's award-winning exterior with dual-blade headlights and an illuminated logo, adding a redesigned rear with a straighter roofline, more upright tailgate and full-length roof rails rated for a 100 kg dynamic roof load. Total storage is 1,680 litres, comprising 530 litres behind the rear seatbacks and 655 litres to the inner roof, expanding to 1,665 litres when the 60/40 rear seats are folded. The more upright rear gives second-row passengers an extra 2.5 cm of headroom, while a larger panoramic glass roof with 99.5% UV protection and a black-off Polestar logo is standard; an optional electrochromic roof can be dimmed fully, partially or in selected sections via the centre display. Inside, the eight-colour palette includes new Aurora and Ozone Matte finishes, and the cabin offers cosmic-themed ambient lighting, Star Knit decor and a centre display with widget shortcuts increased from six to nine. A conventional rear-view mirror is standard with the digital rear-view mirror from the coupé available as an option, and sustainable materials include bio-attributed MicroTech with 100% recycled PET backing and 53% bio-attributed content, optional Tailored Knit made from 89% recycled PET, and traceable chrome-free Bridge of Weir Nappa leather.
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) supplies up to 3.3 kW (16A, 230V) AC power to external devices such as camping equipment and power tools via a certified adapter from Polestar's Extras shop; users can set a minimum battery level in the centre display.
- Camping mode, new for the SUV, turns the parked car into a climate-controlled space with entertainment, ambient lighting, controls on front and rear displays, V2L, USB-C and a 12V outlet.
- Google Gemini replaces command-based voice control with an AI that understands context, supports multi-turn dialogue and everyday speech, and adds Gemini Live for hands-free brainstorming, trip planning and real-time translation.
- V2L and Camping mode will arrive in all Polestar 4 models through a future software update, while Google Gemini is rolling out across 22 countries in 16 languages.
Polestar says the 4 SUV achieves one of the lowest carbon footprints in its model line-up: cradle-to-gate emissions are 21.1 tCO2e for the Dual motor and 20.2 tCO2e for the Rear motor. These results come from 100% renewable electricity in battery-cell production, 34% of aluminium sourced from renewable-powered smelters and 23% recycled aluminium. The chassis is tuned to combine comfort and refinement with responsive handling, and the Performance pack adds recalibrated ZF active dampers, Brembo brakes with gold callipers and 22-inch Pirelli P Zero tyres. Drivetrains are distinguished visually: all-black seatbelts and rotary knob for the Rear motor, a gold stripe for the Dual motor, and full Swedish gold for Performance pack cars, while driving dynamics chief Joakim Rydholm says the SUV delivers confidence, precision and engagement in all conditions.
