What Happened
SEAT's Colour&Trim designers conduct hundreds of tests to create a new colour, drawing inspiration from trends beyond automotive, such as the virtual world. The result for the Ibiza and Arona is two unique shades that change appearance depending on lighting and viewing angle.
“The colour has a somewhat artificial look, but at the same time it's real, it's transitional. Virtual reality is also real. It takes us to a whole new colour world.”
Oniric colour available for Ibiza and Arona
Liminal colour becomes available
Why this matters
New colours are a key differentiator for car buyers, and SEAT's process shows how even paint design follows trends from the virtual world, making the cars stand out.
