What Happened
From October 14 to 16, 2026, Solaris is taking part in TRANSEXPO, the International Fair of Public Transport in Kielce, Poland. The manufacturer is presenting two of the latest additions to its zero-emission portfolio: the Urbino 10,5 electric, making its Polish debut, and the new-generation Urbino 12 hydrogen. Both vehicles incorporate the latest technological solutions Solaris has developed in electromobility. Visitors can find the company at booth 9B10, and this year's edition coincides with Solaris' 30th anniversary.

Solaris celebrates its 30th anniversary.
The Urbino 10,5 electric is a compact, fully electric bus for routes where a standard 12-metre vehicle is not always the optimal solution. Measuring 10.5 metres, it carries up to 85 passengers, including up to 33 seated — the best result in its class — and a turning diameter of less than 17 metres makes it suited to narrower streets and dense urban environments. It is the winner of the Sustainable Bus Award 2026 in the Urban category and uses a towerless driveline architecture that frees space for passengers and allows flexibility in arranging key components. It is equipped with a 240 kW electric motor and Solaris High Energy batteries of up to 400 kWh, enabling all-day operation without intermediate charging, with charging available via a plug-in connector or a pantograph. The model complies with GSR2 safety requirements, can be fitted with advanced driver assistance systems, and features an energy-efficient air-conditioning system with a CO2 heat pump.

The second vehicle on the stand is the Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen new generation, which shares the unified platform without engine tower used by the latest Urbino family vehicles. That design increases the number of seats at the rear of the bus, while the flexible arrangement of roof-mounted components makes it easier to service key systems. A hydrogen fuel cell with an output of more than 70 kW remains the main energy source, powering a centrally mounted traction motor, while the traction battery plays a supporting role — adding power during peak demand and storing energy recovered through regenerative braking. The new generation also carries GSR2-compliant safety and driver assistance features including blind spot monitoring, systems warning of potential hazards around the vehicle, driver drowsiness monitoring and Intelligent Speed Assistance.

Solaris has been marking its 30th anniversary on the trade-fair circuit, presenting the 15-metre Urbino 15 LE electric bus at FIAA Madrid 2026 with a claimed range of more than 600 km and room for up to 100 passengers. At that same fair, its next-generation Urbino 18 hydrogen took the Sustainable Bus Award 2027 in the Urban category — the third straight year a zero-emission Solaris bus has won the honour.

Why this matters
TRANSEXPO in Kielce is one of the key events for Poland's public transport industry, so the vehicles shown there preview what transit operators will be able to order. The Urbino 10,5 electric targets routes where a standard 12-metre bus is not optimal, while the new-generation Urbino 12 hydrogen gives operators a fuel-cell alternative. The show also falls in Solaris' 30th anniversary year.
Terms in This Story
- pantograph
- A roof-mounted current collector that lets a vehicle draw power from overhead charging infrastructure.

- A device that produces electricity from a fuel, typically hydrogen, through a chemical reaction rather than combustion.
- GSR2
- A set of European safety requirements that new vehicles must comply with.
- regenerative braking
