What Happened
Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki's Indian subsidiary, began sales of Suzuki's first BEV, the e VITARA, on 17 February 2026. The vehicle features a BEV powertrain and a new platform called HEARTECT-e, designed specifically for electric vehicles.

The e VITARA is produced at Maruti Suzuki's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. Sales have already started in Europe and Japan, and the model will be exported to over 100 countries and regions.
