What Happened
ZF announced that Tırsan, a leading trailer manufacturer in Türkiye, is expanding its 30-year partnership by adopting ZF's SUMS Service Suite to comply with UNECE R156. The suite includes the SCALAR Software Manager, a cloud-based platform for managing software updates across the vehicle lifecycle.
“A strong customer relationship, relevant ISO certifications and a proven track record of successfully certified customers made us the preferred partner for Tırsan to address the complexity of SUMS regulation.”
- Secure, traceable software updates with automated workflows and documentation
- Backed by ISO 24089 and ISO 21434 certifications for safety and cybersecurity
- Proven track record with successfully certified customers
For Tırsan, the SCALAR Software Manager will store software update information for all trailers equipped with ZF electronic or braking systems for 10 years. All data handling complies with GDPR and other data protection requirements. Tırsan's entire product range, including general cargo, cold chain, tank silo, intermodal, and lowbed trailers, will be manufactured in full compliance with the new regulations.
Why this matters
The regulation mandates that software updates in vehicles are safe and traceable. Tırsan's compliance ensures its trailers can be updated securely over their lifespan, supporting new technologies without compromising safety.
