- 2026
What Happened
Texas Instruments has expanded direct Indian-rupee purchasing for bulk orders placed by domestic manufacturers through its backlog channel. The company made the announcement at electronica India 2026 in Bengaluru, where it is demonstrating more than 20 technologies.
The semiconductor supplier says the arrangement is aimed at improving cost predictability and delivery terms for local vehicle and component makers. Its automotive demonstrations cover software-defined vehicle computing, zone control, real-time wheel-speed monitoring and 48-volt systems, including a gallium-nitride audio amplifier.
Why this matters
Local-currency procurement can reduce payment friction for Indian OEMs and component makers as vehicle electronics become more central to product differentiation and safety compliance.
