What Happened
Calvin Vlaanderen, riding for Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team, finished 10th in the qualifying race for the Grand Prix of Latvia, the eighth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. He started 16th after a difficult start but staged a strong comeback on a drying track. Ferruccio Zanchi of the Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team also advanced from outside the top 15 to finish 12th in the MX2 qualifying race.
Andrea Bonacorsi, also of the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team, crashed with four laps to go while running seventh, ending his qualifying race. He was hospitalized at Riga Hospital for checks, conscious and alert according to the team.
