ZF Aftermarket launches TRW DTEC brakes cutting PM10 emissions by up to 80% for Euro 7 readiness

At Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, ZF Aftermarket unveiled new TRW DTEC brake pads and discs that cut PM10 emissions by up to 80% in testing to help independent repair shops prepare for Euro 7.

What Happened

At Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, ZF Aftermarket is spotlighting braking technologies that help workshops, distributors and fleets in the independent aftermarket prepare for Euro 7. The showcase includes new TRW DTEC brake pads and discs and TRW DOT 4 Brake Fluid ESP Recycled, reflecting ZF's expertise across the whole braking ecosystem. ZF says the independent aftermarket needs practical repair solutions as the automotive industry moves toward lower-emission mobility. ZF's latest Mobility Uptime solutions are also on display at Forum Level 01 in Frankfurt.

Euro 7 introduces limits for brake particle emissions, shifting attention toward non-exhaust emissions. TRW DTEC — short for Dust Technology — includes brake pads and discs developed to cut PM10 emissions. The technology was validated on ZF's dustIN, the company's in-house brake-particle testing dynamometer built to test products under Euro 7-relevant conditions. ZF says the products are also engineered for reduced wear, improved corrosion behavior and reliable braking performance, and they can be retrofitted to vehicles in line with Euro 7's requirements for new vehicles.

Meaningful environmental progress requires solutions that can be implemented in everyday repair. Our objective is to make innovative braking technologies accessible to our customers at scale, without compromising safety, performance or serviceability.
Philippe Colpron, Head of ZF Aftermarket
With TRW DTEC, we are strengthening the link between original equipment development and the independent aftermarket. The technology reflects ZF's ability to transfer regulatory-relevant braking innovation into everyday repair solutions.
Markus Wittig, Head of Business Line Passenger Cars at ZF Aftermarket

Another innovation shown at Automechanika is TRW DOT 4 Brake Fluid ESP Recycled, which contains 60% post-consumer recycled material calculated in accordance with ISO 14021 and is processed into a high-quality product. ZF also says it achieved a Gold rating from EcoVadis with a score of 86/100, ranking among the top 3% of more than 175,000 companies evaluated globally and the top 1% in its industry segment. The rating reflects the company's commitment to transparency, environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.

Why this matters

Euro 7 introduces limits on brake particle emissions, so brakes become a compliance issue for new vehicles. ZF says its TRW DTEC pads and discs can be retrofitted to vehicles already on the road, which matters for independent workshops, distributors and fleets serving cars that don't yet have to meet the new standards. The recycled brake fluid also shows how aftermarket parts can reduce waste.

Terms in This Story

PM10
Airborne particulate matter with a diameter of 10 micrometers or smaller; brake wear is a source, and Euro 7 regulates brake particle emissions.
Euro 7
European Union emissions regulation for new vehicles, adding limits on brake and tire particle emissions alongside exhaust standards.
aftermarket
Market for vehicle parts and maintenance services after the original sale, typically through independent workshops and distributors.
WLTP
Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure, a standardized global cycle used to measure vehicle emissions and fuel consumption.
