BYD Denza Expands Z9GT Shooting Brake Lineup With 329,800 Yuan Tri-Motor Electric Model

BYD's premium marque Denza has introduced a more accessible all-electric variant of the Z9GT shooting brake in China, pricing the 850 kW three-motor model at 329,800 yuan ($48,670).

Entry price for e3 trim
329,800 yuan (~$48,670)
Combined tri-motor output
850 kW (1,140 hp)
CLTC driving range
860 km (122.5 kWh pack)
Minimum turning radius
4.62 meters

What Happened

Sitting 10.8 percent below the 369,800-yuan Flash Charging Performance edition, the latest specification retains the three-motor layout while trading track-focused hardware for daily usability. Propulsion relies on a 230 kW motor at the front axle supported by twin 310 kW motors at the rear, generating 1,210 N·m of peak torque and reaching 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.

Energy storage relies on BYD's second-generation Blade Battery with 122.5 kWh capacity, providing 860 kilometers of driving radius on the CLTC cycle — 40 kilometers further than the Performance edition. Recharging via BYD's proprietary station network takes nine minutes from 10 to 97 percent under standard conditions.

Hardware revisions focus primarily on the deceleration package. In place of the top trim's carbon-ceramic discs and six-piston calipers, the 329,800-yuan edition adopts conventional ventilated cast-iron rotors with four-piston front calipers and 20-inch wheels. Standard dual-motor steer-by-wire rear wheel steering is retained, yielding a tight 4.62-meter turning radius alongside DiSus-A active air suspension.

Denza general manager Li Hui noted that the trim was developed for drivers desiring the brand's tri-motor dynamics without paying for specialized track components. The addition expands the Z9GT family to four battery-electric choices and two plug-in hybrid options, following a model update in March that previously reduced entry pricing across the series.

Why this matters

The new configuration lowers the cost of entry for Denza's tri-motor electric powertrain by 40,000 yuan compared with the Flash Charging Performance edition. It also expands the shooting brake's all-electric lineup to four choices while integrating with BYD's growing high-speed charging infrastructure.
