BYD slots a cheaper Sealion 7 Dynamic into India at Rs 41.90 lakh
BYD has added a new entry-level Dynamic grade to its Sealion 7 electric SUV in India at Rs 41.90 lakh, ex-showroom, some Rs 8 lakh under the previous base car.

What Happened
The Chinese maker has made the Dynamic the new starting point of the range, priced Rs 8 lakh below the Rs 49.90 lakh Premium it displaces at the bottom of the line-up. To hit the figure, the grade drops to a smaller pack and loses some kit against the dearer versions.

The Dynamic runs a 71.8kWh Blade pack feeding a single rear motor of 231hp, for a quoted 520km on the NEDC scale and a 0-100kph time of 7.3 seconds. Above it, both the Premium and Performance carry a larger 82.56kWh battery: the Premium keeps rear drive with 313hp, while the twin-motor Performance drives all four wheels and makes 530hp, their ranges rated at 567km and 542km.
Even as the base car, the Dynamic keeps LED lamps, a rotating 15.6-inch screen, a 10.25-inch instrument display, cooled powered front seats, a glass roof, a surround-view camera, 11 airbags and Level 2 driver aids. What goes are the head-up display, powered lumbar support, a PM2.5 filter and a gesture tailgate, and it wears 19-inch wheels with two fewer speakers. BYD pitches it against the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and BMW iX1 LWB.
Why this matters
A lower opening price pulls the Sealion 7 into closer reach of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 in India's small but expanding premium-EV bracket. The saving comes at the cost of a smaller pack and thinner equipment.
