BYD Yangwang U7 Completes 30,000-Kilometer Test With 98.7% Battery Retention

BYD's Yangwang U7 completed a 30,000-kilometer endurance run with more than 350 fast-charging cycles, and the company reported 98.7% battery-capacity retention at the finish.

What Happened

Yangwang said on August 25 that a production U7 sedan had covered 30,000 kilometers in Nanning in eight days, 19 hours, and 58 minutes. The company said the car was selected from a retail store rather than prepared as a special test vehicle.

The run took place with temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius and the air conditioner set to 24 degrees. The sedan travelled at 240 kilometers per hour for the endurance exercise.

BYD said the U7 completed more than 350 flash-charge cycles during the test. At the end, the Blade Battery 2.0 pack retained 98.7% of its capacity, according to the company.

The announcement comes as Chinese authorities prepare tougher reliability verification requirements for new-energy vehicles. Yangwang said it had accumulated 10.49 million kilometers across 758 U7 test vehicles before the sedan's market launch.

Why this matters

The test puts a concrete durability result behind BYD's second-generation Blade Battery as China raises the reliability mileage expected for new-energy vehicles. It is also a public demonstration of how Yangwang is positioning its flagship sedan before wider market delivery.
