What Happened
Geely Auto says Andy An will take over as board chairman on August 18, replacing founder Eric Li. Li will become honorary chairman for life and retain the chair at parent Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
The company said the transition supports its governance requirements and leadership-succession plan. Li will continue to support Geely Auto as its controlling shareholder.
The company says An entered Geely in 1996 and later took the holding company’s top executive role. Geely Auto added him to its board on June 5.
Why this matters
The change is the company’s largest leadership reshuffle since its founding. Geely says it is intended to strengthen succession planning and give professional executives more operating authority.
