What Happened
Mack Trucks today announced at ACT Expo 2026 that its new MP13 engine will be EPA 2027-compliant. The MP13 delivers up to 540 horsepower and 1,950 lb.-ft. of torque, with up to 3% improved fuel efficiency over previous versions. It also features stronger stopping power with up to 630 braking horsepower—a more than 20% improvement.
The engine meets EPA 2027 standards through enhancements that deliver more complete combustion and lower engine-out CO2, soot, and particulate matter. It is compatible with renewable diesel (R100) and biodiesel blends up to B20, up from B10 on the previous MP13, giving fleets flexibility to use lower-carbon fuels.
“The MP13 represents years of engineering work to deliver an engine that meets the toughest emissions standards in our industry's history, but does so without asking our customers to compromise on power or efficiency.”
The EPA 2027 MP13 will be available across Mack's highway and vocational lineup, including the Mack Pioneer, Anthem, Granite, and Keystone models. Ordering begins in August 2026, with production aligned to model year 2028 vehicles.
Why this matters
The MP13 helps fleets comply with upcoming stricter emissions rules without sacrificing performance, while supporting renewable diesel and biodiesel for lower-carbon operations.
