What Happened

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., India's leading utility-vehicle maker, has launched the New Veero 1.1 XXL CNG and the Upgraded Veero Diesel. The Veero first appeared in September 2024 as the debut model for the Urban Prosper Platform (UPP), which Mahindra calls India's first ground-up, multi-energy modular commercial-vehicle platform. The original was a 'testament to innovation and reliability' in the under-3.5-tonne LCV class, and this expansion adds an intra-city CNG model and an updated diesel.

Key dates
  1. September 2024

Original Veero launched; it debuts the Urban Prosper Platform (UPP).

  2. September 8, 2026

Mahindra announces the New Veero 1.1 XXL CNG and Upgraded Veero Diesel; the diesel goes on sale.

  3. September 20, 2026

Customer availability of the New Veero 1.1 XXL CNG is scheduled to begin.

The New Veero 1.1 XXL CNG is designed for intra-city applications, combining a 1.1-tonne payload with a 2,900 mm (9.5 ft) cargo deck that Mahindra says is best-in-class, enabling higher-volume loads while retaining a compact footprint. A 5.1-metre turning radius is meant to ease manoeuvring in congested streets and tight loading/unloading locations. It uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine rated at 48.5 kW and 98 Nm. With ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 21.4 km/kg and a combined petrol + CNG driving range of more than 450 km, Mahindra says the truck is engineered for extended operating range and minimised idle periods.

Planned uses for the CNG model
  • FMCG distribution
  • Fruit and vegetable transportation
  • E-commerce deliveries
  • Parcel and courier movement
  • Market loads
  • Other intra-city logistics requirements

The Upgraded Veero Diesel carries Mahindra's 'Soch Se Aage' (thinking ahead) approach and keeps earlier first-in-segment features such as a touchscreen, power windows, a driver airbag and a reverse parking camera. New additions include a 26.03 cm touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice command in multiple languages, cruise control for long-distance comfort, LNT technology and remote air-conditioning control via the iMAXX connected platform. Inside, it has a heater with air conditioning, a reclining driver's seat with adjustable headrest, flat-fold seats for sleeping, door armrest and a D+2 seating arrangement. The iMAXX platform provides 50+ features including vehicle tracking, geo-fencing, route planning, vehicle health tracking and fuel tracking. Power windows and fast-charging ports are standard across all variants.

The New Veero 1.1 XXL CNG is priced from ₹8.25 lakh ex-showroom (V2) and ₹8.55 lakh for the V4 version, with a ₹5,000 premium for Pastel riversand colour. Diesel ex-showroom prices are ₹8.29 lakh for the 1.5 XL SD V2; ₹8.49 lakh (V2), ₹8.82 lakh (V4) and ₹9.45 lakh (V6) for the 1.5 XXL SD; ₹8.75 lakh for the 1.5 XXL HD V2; ₹8.35 lakh (V2) and ₹8.68 lakh (V4) for the 1.5 XXL CBC; ₹8.49 lakh (V2) and ₹9.45 lakh (V6) for the 1.6 XXL SD; and ₹8.75 lakh for the 1.6 XXL HD V2. Grey colour adds ₹5,000 on diesel variants. Availability starts September 8 for the diesel and September 20 for the CNG.

Why this matters

Mahindra's launch gives small fleet owners, e-commerce companies and other intra-city logistics operators two more options: a CNG pickup with a big cargo deck and long range for stop-and-go routes, and a diesel with more cabin tech. The diesel upgrades add convenience and connectivity features that are first-in-segment, according to Mahindra. The expansion also builds on the Urban Prosper Platform, which the company says is India's first ground-up multi-energy modular commercial-vehicle platform, allowing diesel, CNG and future fuels on one architecture.
