What Happened
Marelli's new PFI ECUs are designed for gasoline, flex fuel (ethanol, methanol, synthetic fuels) and compressed natural gas (CNG) applications. They are targeted at the Brazilian, Indian, and EMEA markets, with each version tailored to specific regional needs. The ECUs are developed and produced locally to optimize cost and support local automakers.
“As adoption speeds for propulsion technologies vary, Marelli continues to support customers across the powertrain spectrum. In markets where internal combustion engines remain relevant, our new engine control units enable greater efficiency, emissions reduction, and versatility.”
- Open architecture for third-party integration and Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) updates
- Advanced Infineon AURIX TC3x microcontroller for fast processing and ASIL D functional safety
- Up to eight gasoline injector drivers and four CNG injector drivers for precise control
- Wide-range O2 UEGO sensors and OBDII diagnostics for emission compliance
Why this matters
These new ECUs help automakers meet emissions regulations while improving engine efficiency, especially in regions where internal combustion engines remain widely used.
