Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Takes Second Place at Monza, Leads Endurance Cup Standings
2nd place (Main Race)
Leads overall drivers' and teams' standings
What Happened
The #48 Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Lucas Auer, Maro Engel, and Luca Stolz finished second in the main race at Autodromo Nazionale Monza after an eventful race. A multi-car collision on the opening lap eliminated eight cars, but the #48 avoided the incident and took the lead before a penalty and pit stop timing dropped it to 28th. A late Full Course Yellow helped the team recover to podium position.
Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing also celebrated success in support races. In the GT2 European Series, David Thilenius and Jay Mo Härtling won the second race after a third-place finish in the first. In the GT4 European Series, Enrico Förderer and Cedric Fuchs dominated the weekend with two victories.
“Monza once again proved to be an emotional rollercoaster. From a sporting perspective, it was a successful weekend for us. Our Customer Racing Teams delivered strong performances both in the main race and in the GT2 European Series and GT4 European Series. We respect the stewards’ decision and understand that action had to be taken in such a situation.”
“In the end, it was a happy ending for me, my two team-mates and the entire Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER. A huge thank you to the whole team, who never gave up at any point and made this comeback possible.”
