New Lancia Gamma debuts at Paris Motor Show as made-in-Italy hybrid and electric crossover

Fifty years after the original Gamma, Lancia has unveiled a fastback crossover built in Italy at Melfi, offered as a hybrid and as an electric line-up topping out with a 375-hp HF Integrale.

Drag coefficient
0.25
Maximum electric range
over 740 km
10-80% fast charge time
27 minutes
Melfi plant investment
€43 million

What Happened

The New Lancia Gamma makes its world premiere at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, fifty years after the launch of the original flagship Gamma in 1976 and in the year of the brand's 120th anniversary. The fastback crossover measures 4.67 metres long, 1.89 metres wide and 1.63 metres high, and marks Lancia's return to the heart of the European market in the C-UV segment, described as the best-selling segment in Europe and the second-largest in Italy. It is built on Stellantis' STLA Medium multi-energy platform and is entirely designed, developed and manufactured in Italy at the Melfi plant. Lancia says the project was validated through 720,000 kilometres of testing.

Powertrain line-up
  • 145-hp hybrid with a range exceeding 1,000 km and CO2 emissions of 120 g/km
  • 230-hp electric with over 540 km of range
  • 245-hp electric with over 740 km of range
  • 375-hp all-wheel-drive electric with up to 676 km of range
  • HF Integrale: dual-motor all-wheel drive, 375 hp and 509 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and up to 676 km of range; 350 hp, rising to 375 hp when the battery is charged above 90%
  • Three trims: LS, LX and HF, with HF Line versions for hybrid models and HF Integrale versions for electric models

Fast charging refills the battery from 20% to 80% in just 27 minutes, and 100 km of range can be recovered in only 6 minutes. The car offers EV Routing with charging-stop planning and battery pre-conditioning, one-pedal driving, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for powering external devices. The HF Integrale badge returns after a thirty-year absence with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration delivering 375 hp and 509 Nm and adaptive suspension as standard.

Drag coefficient

0.25

The best in its segment, helped by a split rear spoiler, Aero wheels and an active front grille; rolling resistance is just 4.7 kg/t.

Cabin, technology and driver assistance
  • Cabin inspired by the Italian Home Feeling concept, with a central coffee table, Lancia Glow ambient lighting, a panoramic roof, 25% more rear legroom and a class-leading 560-litre luggage compartment
  • More than 60% of visible interior surfaces are made from sustainable materials, over 600 kg of eco-friendly content on board, including fabrics with up to 100% recycled fibers, a high-bio-based polyurethane and leather treated with a sustainable Zeolite tanning process using mineral agents
  • Dual 10.25-inch and 16-inch displays, a 21-inch virtual head-up display, the SALA HUB voice assistant powered by ChatGPT, Relax, Energize and Entertainment modes, and the SALA Studio Hi-Fi audio system developed with Focal featuring 14 speakers
  • Clean Cabin system with a high-efficiency filter capturing up to 92% of particulate matter and 98% of mould and bacteria, continuously monitoring air quality inside and outside the vehicle
  • Level 2 autonomous driving with three new functions: Semi-Automated Lane Change, Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control and Anticipated Intelligent Speed Adaptation

The Melfi plant, described as a flagship of Italian manufacturing excellence, has been upgraded through a €43 million investment. Styling is defined by sculpted surfaces, the illuminated Calice front signature, a T-shaped rear light design and iconic louvres topped by aerodynamic fins. The international media drive for the new Gamma recently took place between Naples and the Amalfi Coast. A highlight of the event was the preview of the 'Lancia Gamma – Driven by light, shaped by motion' installation, featured within the EDIT Napoli programme, which Lancia says strengthens its connection with contemporary design and Italian craftsmanship.

Gamma then and now
  1. March 1976

The original Gamma debuts at the Geneva Motor Show, designed by Pininfarina and powered by a 140-hp boxer engine.

  2. 9 October 2026

The New Lancia Gamma gets its world premiere at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, in the brand's 120th anniversary year.

Previously from Lancia

Our earlier coverage reported that the new Gamma was presented in Rome at Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, with production at Stellantis' Melfi plant and about thirty Italian suppliers. We also noted that the model would make its international motor show debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show in hybrid and fully electric forms including a 375-hp all-wheel-drive HF Integrale. Before that, more than 140 Lancia club enthusiasts from Italy and across Europe gathered at the Heritage Hub in Turin to celebrate the brand's 120th anniversary and get a first look at the new Gamma.

Why this matters

The Gamma is Lancia's new flagship and marks the brand's return to the C-UV segment, which the source calls the best-selling segment in Europe and the second-largest in Italy. It matters to buyers weighing a 145-hp hybrid against electric versions of up to 375 hp, and to Italian manufacturing: the car is designed, developed and built at the Melfi plant, which received a €43 million investment.

Terms in This Story

C-UV segment
A European classification for compact utility vehicles – small to mid-size crossovers and SUVs – which the source describes as the best-selling segment in Europe and the second-largest in Italy.
Drag coefficient
A measure of how smoothly a vehicle moves through the air; a lower number means less aerodynamic resistance and generally better efficiency.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)
A feature that lets an electric vehicle's battery supply power to external devices, such as tools or appliances.
Fastback
A car body style whose roofline slopes continuously down towards the rear, giving a coupe-like profile.
