What Happened

Nissan Formula E Team completed its home Tokyo E-Prix double-header by scoring points in both races. Oliver Rowland finished seventh on Saturday and fourth on Sunday, while teammate Norman Nato took sixth in the second race after a 16th-place finish on Saturday. The Sunday race was the first night event in the Japanese capital, and the combined results leave Rowland 14 points behind the Drivers' Championship leader going into the London finale on 14-16 August.

Tokyo E-Prix weekend results
  1. Saturday (Round 14)

Rowland starts 15th and finishes 7th; Nato starts 11th, receives a 5-second penalty and finishes 16th.

  2. Sunday (Round 15)

Both reach the Duels; Rowland starts 8th, leads laps and finishes 4th; Nato starts 6th and finishes 6th after a late charge.

Saturday's race took place in hot and humid conditions, with both drivers narrowly missing the Duels in qualifying. Rowland saved energy early, then made a late Pit Boost stop and used Attack Mode to gain eight positions and finish seventh. Nato ran inside the points before minor contact brought a five-second penalty, served during his Pit Boost stop, which dropped him to 16th.

Overnight work improved both cars, but Free Practice 3 was cancelled due to adverse weather, forcing the team into qualifying without validation. Both drivers progressed to the Duels and lined up eighth and sixth. After a Safety Car start, Rowland used early Attack Mode and led several laps before holding fourth after a late red flag. Nato struggled for grip early but took his final Attack Mode and gained seven positions in six minutes to finish sixth.

It was important for us to turn things around on Sunday, especially at this stage of the championship and with it being our home event.

Being only 14 points from the championship lead heading into London means there's still everything to fight for, and we'll keep pushing right until the final race.

Previously from Nissan

Nissan entered the Tokyo weekend for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship's first-ever night races at Rounds 14 and 15. During the event, Nissan Formula E Team also hosted a NISMO Pit pop-up on July 25, celebrating 90s Japanese car culture with modified cars and a special livery.

Why this matters

The result keeps Oliver Rowland in contention for the Drivers' Championship heading into the season finale in London, where the GEN3 era also comes to a close. Nissan showed a strong recovery from a difficult Saturday, putting both cars in the points at its home event. The Tokyo weekend was Formula E's first night race, adding extra drama to the competition.
