“Frontier Pro / Navara Pro shows what happens when innovative thinking is turned into real-world capability. By combining advanced technology, impressive performance and Nissan's renowned quality and durability, we have created a pickup that reflects Nissan's Dare Beyond ambition, challenging expectations while remaining practical for everyday life.”
The pickup was designed, developed and manufactured by Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co. Ltd, Nissan's joint venture in China, and is the first Nissan model developed and produced in China for global export, built to Nissan production standards. Nissan says China is one of its lead markets and a key center for product innovation, engineering and manufacturing, and that it is drawing on strengths built there to develop competitive vehicles for customers worldwide. Alongside the new pickup, Nissan has announced plans to export the N7 electrified sedan from China to markets including ASEAN and Latin America.
Previously from Nissan
Nissan's push to send a China-built pickup to global markets comes as its worldwide volumes have been shrinking: in August 2026 its global sales fell 17.5 percent to 207,162 vehicles and production dropped 19.5 percent, even as its home market of Japan grew 9.7 percent. In the United States, by contrast, Nissan Group's third-quarter retail vehicle sales rose 7.8 percent, extending its year-over-year expansion run to 19 consecutive months.

Why this matters
The rollout matters for buyers in Mexico, the Philippines, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, who get a pickup with a choice of plug-in hybrid or internal combustion power. It also underlines China's growing role as an innovation and export hub for Nissan, and gives the brand its first electrified pickup.
