What Happened

Nissan announced a multi-year agreement to supply its Formula E GEN4 powertrain to Andretti Formula E from Season 13 onwards. The deal brings together two of the most established teams in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, creating a platform for technical collaboration throughout the series' next era. Andretti Formula E won the 2023 FIA Formula E Drivers' World Championship with Jake Dennis, and Nissan's reigning title holder Oliver Rowland will also contribute feedback as the partnership develops.

Nissan's Formula E journey
  1. Season 5 (2018/19)

Nissan made its all-electric racing debut, becoming the first and only Japanese manufacturer in Formula E.

  2. Season 7 (2020/21)

Nissan announced long-term involvement and commitment to the GEN3 era.

  3. April 2022

Nissan acquired the e.dams race team, taking full ownership of its Formula E entry.

  4. 28 March 2024

Nissan became the first manufacturer to commit to the GEN4 era, which runs until 2030.

  5. Season 11 (2024/25)

Nissan Formula E Team won the Drivers' World Championship with Oliver Rowland.

We believe this partnership provides a strong foundation to compete for race wins and championships.

Nissan and Andretti cars will both use Nissan powertrains, doubling the manufacturer's presence.

Previously from Nissan

The announcement was made in Tokyo during the same week as the first-ever night races in the Japanese capital. Nissan Formula E Team also hosted a one-night pop-up event called The NISMO Pit on July 25, celebrating 90s Japanese car culture with a special livery.

Why this matters

This partnership strengthens Nissan's commitment to Formula E as part of its global electrification strategy, while giving Andretti access to a proven powertrain from a leading manufacturer. With four Nissan-powered cars on the grid, technical exchange between the teams could accelerate development of electric vehicle technology that ultimately benefits road cars.
