SERES Group and CATL Expand Cell Supply Alliance Beyond 20 GWh Annual Run Rate
SERES Group and CATL have entered into a long-term strategic agreement in Chongqing to expand dedicated battery cell manufacturing past 20 GWh annually at the SERES Super Factory.
- 10–12 GWh
- Over 20 GWh
- 1.2 million units
What Happened
The agreement signed on October 10 formalizes long-term battery integration across the entire AITO premium vehicle catalogue. All AITO vehicles delivered to date have utilized CATL battery packs, representing more than 1.2 million handovers since brand inception.
- 10–12 GWh
- Over 20 GWh per year
- 1.2 million vehicles
Manufacturing expansion focuses on advancing construction of the second phase within the Chongqing super-plant. The additional phase contributes between 10 GWh and 12 GWh of yearly output, lifting aggregate on-site cell manufacturing above 20 GWh per year.
Beyond production lines, the alliance includes joint establishment of high-power charging corridors alongside comprehensive battery lifecycle management. Both firms also pledged coordinated overseas rollouts targeting customer territories in Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
Why this matters
Securing dedicated battery output supports high-volume manufacturing of SERES Group's AITO brand as joint deliveries surpass 1.2 million vehicles. Coordinating energy charging and export plans also bolsters SERES's upcoming commercial launches across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
