What Happened
Ultraviolette Automotive plans to build a factory it calls BIGGA, short for Big Global Ambition, at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Shoolagiri near Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Output will begin at 2.5 lakh vehicles a year, added in phases, and the site is laid out to reach 5 lakh units should demand rise. The Tesseract electric scooter is the first model scheduled there, with later motorcycles and scooters also in view. The plant will operate alongside Ultraviolette's existing facility in Bengaluru.

Ultraviolette expects roughly 2,000 people to be employed when the plant first opens, with headcount climbing over the following five years as output grows. Manufacturing will lean on Industry 4.0 principles: a Manufacturing Execution System for real-time tracking of production, collaborative robots taking on sorting, welding and assembly, automated fool-proofing within assembly, and vision-based inspection. Vehicles are to be checked on a dedicated test track before they are dispatched. The Tamil Nadu government is facilitating land allotment at the SIPCOT site.

- Automated fool-proofing within assembly lines
- Camera-assisted quality checks
- A specialised test track for pre-dispatch vehicle checks

Ultraviolette lists the Tesseract for the first quarter of 2027 and has opened pre-booking. The company describes the model as built on India's first 100-volt scooter architecture. Buyers cannot lock in a variant yet: final variant choices, detailed configurations and full technical information are due in Q1 2027, with deliveries slated to follow.
Why this matters
The factory gives Ultraviolette a manufacturing base beyond its Bengaluru site and a stated path from 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh vehicles a year as demand develops. Roughly 2,000 initial jobs in Tamil Nadu are tied to the project, which the state government is helping with land allotment at SIPCOT. The Tesseract electric scooter is the first vehicle the plant is meant to build.
