What Happened
Workhorse Group Inc. has launched a limited-time pricing promotion on its W56 electric step van lineup, effective April 1 through September 30, 2026. The promotion offers price reductions of up to $61,000, made possible by synergies from its December 2025 merger with Motiv Electric Trucks and operational efficiencies. The company aims to help commercial fleets offset high fuel prices, which have exceeded $4.00 per gallon in many states due to geopolitical disruptions.
- $196,000 (was $255,000) – save $59,000
- $204,000 (was $265,000) – save $61,000
“We know exactly what this oil price environment is doing to fleet operators, because we live it every day. Lowering the purchase price of the W56 is one of the most direct ways we can help our customers.”
In addition to the promotion, eligible fleets can further reduce costs through state incentive programs like California's HVIP, which offers $60,000 to $80,000 per qualifying vehicle, and Washington's upcoming WAZIP program with $60,000 to $100,000. Workhorse notes that electric step vans can deliver 64 percent operating cost savings versus internal combustion engine vehicles, and that electricity costs are largely immune to global oil shocks.
Why this matters
High fuel prices are driving up operating costs for delivery fleets, and this promotion makes electric step vans more affordable, potentially reducing the price gap with gas-powered vans.
