Bajaj sets an August 24 debut for overhauled Pulsar 125 and 150

Bajaj Auto will introduce comprehensively reworked versions of its Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150 commuter motorcycles on 24 August, bringing new frames, revised suspension and fresh equipment to two of its oldest nameplates.

Launch date
August 24
Pulsar 125 engine
124.4cc
Pulsar 150 engine
149.5cc

What Happened

The two updated commuters have already turned up at dealerships, and Bajaj has confirmed a 24 August introduction. Both keep the recognisable Pulsar silhouette but move to fresh underpinnings, with full specifications, variants and prices due on launch day.

What is changing
  • A new single-downtube frame in place of the twin-cradle design on the current bikes
  • A rear monoshock replacing the twin-shock layout, with a telescopic front fork retained
  • An updated oil-cooled engine for the 150, though outputs are not yet disclosed
  • A redesigned headlight cowl, revised panels and a fully digital instrument display, with a TFT screen possible on higher trims
  • A switch from the heel-and-toe shifter to a conventional toe shifter
Current engine hardware
Pulsar 125 (outgoing)
124.4cc air-cooled single · 11.8hp · 10.8Nm
Pulsar 150 (outgoing)
149.5cc air-cooled single · 14hp · 13.3Nm

Braking is expected to pair a front disc with a rear drum, which points to single-channel ABS on at least the entry variants. Dealership sightings show single-piece seats, with split seats likely reserved for higher-spec versions.

Why this matters

The 125 and 150 are among the volume commuter bikes that have anchored Bajaj's two-wheeler range for years. A ground-up mechanical update suggests the company is modernising its mass-market models rather than leaning only on newer platforms.

Terms in This Story

Monoshock
A single rear suspension damper that replaces a twin-shock setup, generally giving more consistent damping.
