What Happened
Continental plans to invest approximately $76 million to build a new highly automated finished-goods warehouse in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The facility will have a storage capacity of about 500,000 passenger car tires, covering an area larger than six American football fields. Construction is expected to start in summer 2026, with operations beginning in 2027.

The Mount Vernon site, Continental's largest US tire plant, has been operating for over 50 years. It currently produces about 11.4 million tires annually and employs more than 3,500 people. The new warehouse is part of Continental's ongoing investment in automation and digitalization across its global tire manufacturing operations.
