Continental AG

Continental was founded in 1871 in Hanover as Continental-Caoutchouc und Gutta-Percha Compagnie, manufacturing rubber goods. Pneumatic tyres for bicycles came in 1892, for cars in 1898. The 20th century saw Continental expand into brakes, electronics, and powertrain — a transformation from tyre-maker to integrated supplier.
