Opel Vivaro Flatbed Adds 2.2-Litre Turbo Diesel, Debuts at IAA Transportation 2026
Opel has given its Vivaro flatbed a 2.2-litre turbo diesel for the first time, pairing 110 kW (150 hp) and 370 Newton metres of torque with a six-speed manual gearbox.
- 110 kW (150 hp)
- 370 Nm
- 42 kWh or 69 kWh (usable)
- 2.41 m
What Happened
The Opel Vivaro is offered as a panel van, crew cab or platform chassis, and Opel is now extending the range: for the first time the Vivaro flatbed can be ordered with a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine producing 110 kW (150 hp) and maximum torque of 370 Newton metres, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Opel says the combination of efficiency and economy with exemplary performance figures gives exceptional pull-through power, letting drivers get off to a brisk start even with a fully loaded load area. The flatbed's load area is accessible from three sides, which Opel says makes loading and unloading a wide variety of materials easy. The body variant is positioned for municipal depots, landscaping companies and anyone who needs to transport larger tools on an open load area.
Opel is presenting the new Vivaro flatbed, along with many other light commercial vehicles and solutions, at the IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, which starts today. The vehicles are shown at the joint Stellantis Pro One booth C41 in hall 13 at the Hanover Messe, where they remain on display until September 20. The show is open daily from 9.00 CEST to 18.00 CEST, and on the final day, Sunday, September 20, visitors can find out more about the various Opel models, bodywork solutions and powertrain options until 16.00 CEST.

Previously from Opel Automobile GmbH
Earlier in September, we reported that Opel planned to showcase four commercial vehicles at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover: the Movano crew cab, the Vivaro flatbed, the Combo Tech and the Rocks with Kargo Kit. We also covered Opel opening orders for a new entry-level Combo Start van, priced from €22,400 net in Germany and around €1,000 less than before, with petrol, diesel and electric versions offered from launch. Both items sit in Opel's commercial vehicle line-up, which is where the new 2.2-litre turbo diesel for the Vivaro flatbed now arrives.

Why this matters
The Vivaro flatbed is aimed at fleet and trade buyers such as municipal depots and landscaping companies that need an open load area, so adding a more powerful, high-torque diesel widens what they can carry with a fully loaded bed. Opel is also keeping an emissions-free choice on the platform chassis through the Vivaro Electric, so commercial customers can pick between diesel and battery power.
