What Happened
Bentley's Torcal marks a significant expansion of the brand's interior materials palette, introducing a new generation of materials, finishes and textures alongside established leather and wood. The company says every surface—sculpted, stitched, polished or assembled by hand—reflects its commitment to artistry, authenticity and luxury. For generations, Bentley has used the world's finest materials; Torcal broadens that palette while remaining true to its heritage of craftsmanship.
- Torcal expands Bentley's interior materials and textures palette further than ever before
- First application of Merino wool in an automotive interior
- Up to 1,000 layers used to create Ombre Veneer from walnut off-cuts and recycled paper
- Introduction of Sunburst Aluminium technical finish
- Six curated colourways created to complement new Merino wool interior shades
One of Torcal's key innovations is the introduction of Merino wool, described as the first application of Merino wool in an automotive interior. Bentley partnered with Fox Brothers, a Somerset cloth maker weaving fine wool fabrics since the 18th century, to create the world's first 100 per cent Merino wool automotive fabric capable of meeting luxury vehicle demands. The wool flannel is also the first automotive wool fabric to achieve 100 per cent certification by the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), managed by Textile Exchange. The material is soft to the touch, naturally breathable and introduces a new dimension of warmth and comfort to the Torcal interior.
Torcal also debuts a new Ombre Veneer made from sustainably sourced walnut off-cuts and craft (recycled) paper. Up to 1,000 individually selected layers are pressed together before being sliced to less than a millimetre in thickness. The veneer creates a seamless transition of tone across each surface, flowing from deep black through dark smoke and light smoke before revealing natural walnut. The result is described as both contemporary and timeless.
Expanding Torcal's technical finishes, Mulliner introduces Sunburst Aluminium, a finish that reinterprets the engine-turned aluminium dashboards of past Bentley models. It is described as technical, tactile and highly sophisticated. Precision-crafted with extraordinary attention to detail, it combines heritage-inspired artistry with a contemporary aesthetic.
To accompany the Merino wool, Bentley created six curated colourways tailored specifically for the new material. Each palette combines complementary tones from the same colour family, creating depth, harmony and a contemporary sense of sophistication. The Torcal demonstrates how the future of luxury can be progressive and beautifully crafted, combining innovative materials, sustainable thinking and meticulous attention to detail.

Why this matters
For Bentley buyers, this means a significantly broader palette of interior materials and textures, including a Merino wool fabric that meets automotive durability demands and holds 100% Responsible Wool Standard certification. The Ombre Veneer pairs recycled materials with traditional craftsmanship. It signals a direction for luxury interiors where sustainability and artistry are combined.
