What Happened
Cadillac has revealed the V-ONE concept, a hand-built hybrid car that aims to bring the race-proven performance of its V-Series.R endurance racer to a non-racing driver. "It's about as close to the race car as you can get," says Sean O'Shea, Cadillac LMDh Propulsion Manager. The concept is not for sale, but it serves as a showcase of Cadillac's performance and craftsmanship.
- Hand-painted livery that fades from silver to dark Caspia blue, unlike the race car's vinyl wrap
- Every body panel hand-surfaced for perfect reflections, highlights, and surface flow
- Hybrid system tuned to be more user-friendly, with no racing-series power limits
- Extra 134 horsepower available at the push of a button, for an estimated total of 830 horsepower
- Simplified hybrid system and unique aerodynamic package combining elements of different race car iterations
- Debuts the new V-Series logo and a wheel design previewing future V-Series production models
Despite the differences, the V-ONE shares an identical carbon-fiber tub with the race car, built by Italian firm Dallara, and uses the same body molds. It also carries the same naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8, giving it the same distinctive sound. The engine takes 160 hours to assemble by hand in Pontiac, Michigan, by hand-picked race-engine builders. Safety is carried over too: the V-ONE uses the FIA-approved survival cell from the V-Series.R and meets the same FIA safety standards.
~830hp
with an extra 134 hp available via a button boost; the race car's output is limited by racing regulations.
“You get on the straightaway, hit a button and get an extra 134 horsepower. I couldn't even imagine that. These things are already so fast, adding a bunch more power with the press of a button is incredible.”
- Three dozen steering wheel iterations, with many controls replicated from the race car
- Blue accents throughout that echo the exterior livery
- GT3-style racing seat that improves visibility compared with the race car's chair
- Bespoke Cadillac interior craftsmanship
The aim is for the V-ONE's lap times to fall within about 10% of the V-Series.R's, despite having more power and a lightly simplified hybrid system. According to Dominic Najafi, Executive Director of Design for Global Cadillac Design, "The CELESTIQ represents ultimate luxury, the V-ONE represents ultimate performance. Both show the scope of Cadillac." The concept is a one-off and is not available for sale.

Why this matters
The V-ONE shows how Cadillac is translating its endurance-racing success into a road-focused concept, giving enthusiasts a preview of future V-Series design cues like the new logo and wheel style. It also demonstrates the brand's hand-built craftsmanship and hybrid performance, even though the concept itself won't be sold. For Cadillac, it reinforces a lineup that also includes the ultra-luxury CELESTIQ, highlighting the brand's range from luxury to perfo…
