What Happened
Opel is giving Paris Motor Show visitors a look at its future, led by the world premiere of the Opel Sports Tourer eXperimental Concept, or STX Concept, a vision of the electric estate of tomorrow. The German manufacturer from Rüsselsheim is also presenting its GSE range — short for Grand Sport Electric — combining dynamic driving pleasure and design with what it calls Deutscher Ingenieurskunst, German engineering expertise. The stand has two world premieres: the STX Concept and the Opel GSE 27FE, the GEN4 Formula E racing car shown for the first time in its final world championship livery. Alongside them, the Corsa GSE makes its exhibition debut and the new Opel Astra GSE Line appears for the first time.
- World premiere: Opel STX Concept, showing the evolution of estate design
- World premiere: Opel GSE 27FE, the GEN4 Formula E racing car in its final world championship livery
- Exhibition debut: Opel Corsa GSE, the all-electric everyday sports car already available to order
- First appearance: Opel Astra GSE Line, offering GSE styling with a free choice of drives
- Young SUV family: Grandland Electric AWD, Frontera Electric Extended Range and Mokka GSE
The Opel STX Concept is the bold vision of the electric estate of tomorrow, combining German engineering, emotional design and intelligent technologies. It continues Opel's long tradition as an estate pioneer in Europe and clearly relates to the Sports Tourer models with the Blitz, such as the latest generation Astra Sports Tourer, which supplied the 'ST' abbreviation. For Opel it also symbolises the next evolutionary step of its design philosophy: even bolder, purer, more emotional and more efficient. That is visible in an even more striking Opel Vizor with light animations in curved lamellas, a steeply sloping rear and a surface design with flush, precise lines and a distinctively technical appearance. The concept also has an active aerodynamic system that continuously adapts to the driving situation, using moving elements at the rear to optimise airflow, reduce drag and improve stability.
The Opel GSE 27FE is the epitome of the GSE motto 'Grand Sport Electric' and the car with which Opel will join the Formula E World Championship from the coming season. It has permanent all-wheel drive, an output of over 800 hp and a recuperation output of up to 700 kW, which Opel says takes electric motorsport to a completely new level. The Opel Compass features prominently at the front and clearly identifies the vehicle as an Opel, while the GSE design language introduced with the Mokka GSE Rally develops from a rugged rally look into a new visual world designed for high-tech and high-speed Formula E. In Paris the car is on display for the first time in its final livery, ready for its world championship debut.
The Opel Corsa GSE, already available to order, is celebrating its exhibition premiere in Paris. Germany's best-selling small car comes with a lowered sports chassis, 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Newton metres of torque, sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds — faster than any other current production Opel — and reaches 180 km/h, accompanied by an active sports sound developed exclusively for it. The Mokka GSE offers the same 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Newton metres, brings the rally feeling of its motorsport counterpart, the Mokka GSE Rally, to the road, and with a top speed of 200 km/h is the fastest all-electric production Opel to date; it won the 2025 Golden Steering Wheel in the small car category. Opel is now extending the GSE experience to other models: the Astra GSE Line, made in Rüsselsheim, is shown in Paris for the first time and will be available to order from spring 2027, giving the Astra a sharper look and combining with battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, hybrid or conventional internal combustion powertrains.
- 207 kW (281 hp), 345 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 5.5 s — 16.0–17.0 kWh/100 km WLTP
- 207 kW (281 hp), 345 Nm, top speed 200 km/h — 18.5 kWh/100 km WLTP
- 239 kW (325 hp), up to 509 Nm, all-wheel drive — 18.1 kWh/100 km WLTP
Opel's SUV range in Paris is topped by the Grandland Electric AWD, the brand's first all-electric model with all-wheel drive, with a total system output of 239 kW (325 hp) and up to 509 Newton metres of torque. Its chassis features adaptive Frequency Selective Damping technology and drivers can select 'Normal', 'Eco', 'Sport' and '4WD' modes for road contact and grip in all traffic and weather conditions, whether on snow or when towing a caravan. The practical, family-friendly Frontera rounds off the line-up with features such as comfortable Intelli-Seats, a smartphone station and space for up to seven people. In its Electric Extended Range variant, a 54 kWh battery (52 kWh usable capacity) provides a locally emissions-free range of up to 400 kilometres (WLTP) between charging stops, with combined energy consumption of 16.3 kWh/100 km.
Previously from Opel Automobile GmbH
Earlier MotorClaw coverage reported that Opel planned two world premieres at the Paris Motor Show — the STX Concept electric estate and the GSE 27FE Formula E car — and that they would be staged on a five-lane, Autobahn-inspired stand. We described the STX Concept as a taste of how exciting and emotional the estate of tomorrow can be. We also reported that Opel had revealed the final GSE 27FE race livery ahead of the GEN4 car's debut Formula E season.

Why this matters
The Paris stand shows how Opel is building its identity around electric performance, with GSE now spanning a rally-inspired small SUV, an everyday hot hatch and a Formula E racer. Compact-car buyers get a new Astra GSE Line trim, orderable from spring 2027 and available with a free choice of powertrains, while the Corsa GSE's 5.5-second sprint makes it the quickest current production Opel.
