What Happened
At its Paris Motor Show press conference on October 12, Opel CEO Florian Huettl said the brand is on course for growth after the successful launch of the Grandland, Mokka and Frontera. He announced investments of more than one billion euros and four new Opel models by 2030, including the next generation Astra. Huettl presented the two world premieres together with Vice President Marketing Rebecca Reinermann and Vice President Design Mark Adams. Visitors can explore the Opel world at booth A42 in hall 4 until October 18.
The Opel STX Concept, short for Opel Sports Tourer eXperimental Concept, celebrates Sports Tourer history and reimagines this Opel favourite for a new generation. According to Opel, it combines German engineering, emotional design and intelligent technologies so that drivers and passengers experience the highest level of driving engagement. The study pairs technical and emotional styling with solutions that ensure better aerodynamics and efficiency. It is not only a show car, but also anticipates the visionary further development of the Sports Tourer and already carries elements of future Opel models.
“It has an even bolder, more confident brand face with a more prominent Opel Vizor and a new light signature. The STX Concept represents the next ambitious and exciting step forward in Opel design.”
The second world premiere, the Opel GSE 27FE, is the race car for the GEN4 generation of the Formula E World Championship, which begins with the coming season. It represents the epitome of the Opel GSE performance concept Grand Sport Electric and has permanent all-wheel drive, more than 800 hp of power and recuperation power of up to 700 kW. Vice President Marketing Rebecca Reinermann said the move into Formula E is the ultimate next step after success with the Mokka GSE Rally, launched last year.
After the Mokka GSE was introduced last year, the new Opel Corsa GSE celebrated its exhibition premiere in Paris in characteristic GSE design. With 207 kW (281 hp), 345 Newton metres of torque and 5.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, it is the most powerful Corsa to date and accelerates faster than any other current production Opel. Buyers who want GSE design independently of the drive variant can choose the new GSE Line, starting with the Opel Astra GSE Line, which will be available from next spring. Combined WLTP values are 16.0-17.0 kWh/100 km with 0 g/km CO2 and CO2 class A for the Corsa GSE, and 18.5 kWh/100 km with 0 g/km CO2 and CO2 class A for the Mokka GSE.
- Race: the GSE spirit comes to life on the racetrack, with success achieved with the Mokka GSE Rally since its launch last year, followed now by the step into Formula E.
- Drive: customers can experience GSE on the road with the new Corsa GSE, the Mokka GSE and the Astra GSE Line.
- Play: the Pit Stop Experience, developed with GIANTX, combines performance, technology and gaming at the Opel booth, where visitors can race on an exclusive digital Trackmania track inspired by the Opel Formula E programme.

Opel had already signalled its Paris plans: on October 8 we reported that the company would stage two world premieres, the STX Concept electric estate and the GSE 27FE Formula E race car, on a five-lane, Autobahn-inspired stand. On October 7, Opel pulled the covers off the final race livery of the GSE 27FE, the GEN4 car it will take into its debut Formula E season. On October 11 we noted that the STX Concept show car gives a taste of how exciting and emotional the estate of tomorrow can be.
