Sinotruk launches SITRAK 4×2 battery-electric tractor at IAA Transportation in Hannover

Sinotruk has unveiled a new-generation SITRAK 4×2 battery-electric tractor at the 72nd IAA Transportation in Hannover, claiming more than 500 km of range and a 20% to 80% charge in 23 minutes.

What Happened

The 72nd IAA Transportation opened on September 14 in Hannover, Germany, where Sinotruk appeared under the theme “Powering All, Delivering One,” presenting its premium SITRAK product lineup, intelligent equipment and integrated charging ecosystem solutions. The new-generation SITRAK 4×2 battery-electric tractor was unveiled on the first day of the show. Sinotruk says the model is designed to meet global demand for zero-carbon line-haul logistics and is a strategic offering aimed at premium international markets.

Battery capacity

600kWh

Class-leading capacity on the new-generation SITRAK 4×2 battery-electric tractor, which Sinotruk says delivers more than 500 km of range on a single charge.

Sinotruk says the new-generation SITRAK 4×2 battery-electric tractor answers persistent problems for battery-electric heavy trucks worldwide: limited range, inefficient charging, limited hauling capacity and inadequate reliability. The truck runs Sinotruk's next-generation new energy powertrain system and supports megawatt-level charging, going from 20% to 80% in 23 minutes. A curb weight of just 10.1 t and a maximum payload of up to 44 t allow operators to carry more, while a low-drag design, advanced energy management and energy recuperation hold consumption to 1.1 kWh/km.

L2+ driver assistance on the new SITRAK
  • L2+ advanced driver assistance system covering 90% of highway driving scenarios
  • Intelligent speed control
  • Automatic lane changing and overtaking
  • Automatic obstacle avoidance
  • Automated ramp navigation
  • Automated highway driving without driver intervention in applicable scenarios
Sinotruk's global support network
  • Products sold in more than 150 countries and regions
  • 37 KD plants
  • More than 1,000 service outlets worldwide
  • USD 105 million in new energy spare-parts inventory at overseas central warehouses
  • Over 40 international training centers
  • More than 300 EV technical specialists providing frontline support in local markets

  2. September 14, 2026

The 72nd IAA Transportation opens in Hannover, Germany, and Sinotruk unveils the new-generation SITRAK 4×2 battery-electric tractor on the first day.

Sinotruk says it has moved beyond the traditional model of exporting individual products, drawing on independent R&D and vehicle engineering expertise to expand across products, technologies, brand building, services and ecosystems. The company traces its history to 1930, when it took on the mission of filling the gap in China's heavy-duty truck industry, and it independently produced China's first Huanghe JN150 truck, ending the era when China had no domestically produced heavy-duty trucks. Sinotruk says it will keep innovation at the core and quality at the foundation of its global strategy as the logistics industry moves toward greater efficiency, intelligence and sustainability.

Previously from Sinotruk

Sinotruk had already said it would bring five SITRAK models to IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 in Hannover, including a 4×2 battery-electric tractor with more than 500 km of range. Weeks earlier, at an August 21 R&D meeting, Sinotruk leaders rallied engineers around new-energy, intelligent-driving and AI priorities as the company aims to catch global rivals.

Background drawn from MotorClaw's earlier coverage of Sinotruk's official releases.

Why this matters

Battery-electric heavy-duty trucks have long struggled with limited range, inefficient charging, limited hauling capacity and inadequate reliability, which has held them back in long-haul freight — a major source of road-freight carbon emissions. Sinotruk is pitching this truck at line-haul logistics operators worldwide, alongside a service and parts network built to support it outside China.

Terms in This Story

KD plant
A knock-down plant, where vehicles are assembled locally from kits of major components shipped from the manufacturer's home factory.
megawatt-level charging
Charging at power levels measured in megawatts, far above the kilowatt-level chargers used for passenger cars, intended to shorten charging stops for heavy commercial vehicles.
line-haul logistics
Long-distance freight transport, typically moving goods between cities or regions over highways rather than on short local delivery routes.
L2+ advanced driver assistance system
A driver-assistance package that can handle some steering, speed and lane functions automatically, but still requires the driver to supervise and be ready to take over.
