Sinotruk shows electric and diesel SITRAK trucks at IAA Transportation in Hannover
SINOTRUK used the public day at IAA Transportation in Hannover to show two contrasting SITRAK trucks: a 580 kWh battery-electric rigid hauler and a 630 hp diesel tractor.
- 580 kWh
- Up to 400 km
- Up to 64 tonnes
- 2.5 billion km
What Happened
The 72nd IAA Transportation in Hannover, Germany, opened to the public on September 15, drawing industry guests, overseas dealers, professional visitors and media representatives from around the world. SINOTRUK's booth became one of the exhibition highlights thanks to its achievements in building a zero-carbon energy ecosystem. The company highlighted a diversified powertrain strategy covering multiple powertrain types and a full range of operating scenarios, with two benchmark products on display that day: the SITRAK 6×2 battery-electric rigid truck and the SITRAK 4×2 diesel tractor. SINOTRUK said the pair addresses different transition paces and real-world operating challenges across global markets.
The SITRAK 6×2 battery-electric rigid truck is engineered for freight operations involving long distances, heavy loads, extreme cold and multi-stop transport, and was developed around five key dimensions: economy, efficiency, safety, reliability and comfort. Its extra-long wheelbase frees up more chassis space, enabling a cargo body volume of more than 45 m³, so it carries more on every trip whether hauling beverages, cartoned goods or parcels, with shorter round-trip times, lower energy consumption and higher earnings per shift. The platform supports full-trailer combinations with a gross combination weight of up to 64 tonnes, and it runs a 580 kWh LFP battery with a range of up to 400 km and a design life of 1.2 million km. Flexible battery module configurations support multiple operating modes, including urban distribution, long-haul line-haul transport, rigid-truck operation and full-trailer operation.
- AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking)
- DDAW (Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning)
- BSIS (Blind Spot Information System)
- ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance)
- LDW (Lane Departure Warning)
- MOIS (Moving Off Information System)
The SITRAK 4×2 diesel tractor was developed for long-haul line-haul logistics around four key priorities — intelligence, safety, efficiency and comfort — to tackle driver shortages and the high incidence of fatigue-related accidents. It carries SINOTRUK's independently developed third-generation advanced driver assistance system, which creates a multidimensional driver-vehicle-road perception network from six radar sensors — one LiDAR sensor and five millimeter-wave radar sensors — together with six cameras. That system continuously monitors the road environment around the vehicle, enabling automatic lane changes and overtaking, intelligent ramp entry and exit, and automatic obstacle avoidance, while AEB and blind spot monitoring work together to provide automatic emergency braking. It can also integrate high-definition road maps to identify road conditions ahead and automatically adjust vehicle speed and gear-shifting strategies, and SINOTRUK says the system has accumulated 2.5 billion kilometers of accident-free operation.
A newly developed MC14 high-horsepower engine for long-haul transport powers the diesel tractor, delivering 630 hp and 2,750 N·m of torque. SINOTRUK says it performs easily under heavy loads, on gradients and against demanding delivery schedules, and that combined with the vehicle's intelligent control system it cuts fuel consumption by 5% compared with the previous generation. The cab adds push-button start, a coffee maker, a microwave oven, an aviation-grade air-suspension seat with ventilation and heating, and a parking air-conditioning system — what SINOTRUK calls a home on the road to reduce fatigue on long-distance journeys.
- 580 kWh LFP battery; range up to 400 km; gross combination weight up to 64 tonnes; 1.2 million km design life; cargo body volume over 45 m³
- MC14 engine with 630 hp and 2,750 N·m; 5% lower fuel consumption than the previous generation; third-generation driver assistance with 2.5 billion km of accident-free operation
SINOTRUK positions the two trucks as complementary: the battery-electric rigid truck addresses the challenges of green heavy-duty transport across diverse operating conditions, while the diesel tractor protects operating returns in real-world long-haul line-haul applications. The company says the display demonstrates its capabilities across multiple powertrains, a full range of scenarios, a complete product portfolio, end-to-end solutions, global services and integrated delivery. Looking ahead, SINOTRUK says it will continue its global brand proposition, "Powering All, Delivering One", connecting complete vehicles, core components, energy replenishment and operational support across the entire value chain.
Previously from Sinotruk
Motorclaw previously reported that Sinotruk planned to bring five SITRAK models to IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 in Hannover, including a 4×2 battery-electric tractor with more than 500 km of range, along with an energy ecosystem. That earlier plan is the backdrop to the two benchmark SITRAK models the company highlighted on the show's public day.

Why this matters
The two trucks show how one manufacturer is covering both electrification and diesel for heavy freight rather than betting on a single powertrain. For fleet buyers facing different transition paces and tough operating conditions, that means products pitched at real limits such as range, cold weather and heavy loads. For SINOTRUK, the Hannover display is a bid to serve global transport markets with scenario-specific solutions.
